The TL;DR, Your Death Squad Is Ready To Ride To Recurring Revenue

A bi-weekly roundup of ways to make your recurring leadership meeting more epic
June 14 - June 27

Ride or Die: The Four Horsemen of Agencies

The strength of an agency lies in four key areas: Sales, Account Management, Operations, and Leadership. Each one is a powerful force, a "horseman" that can either lead you to victory or trample you in the dust.

Since it's the Summer of Strengths at Learn to Scale, we've hopped on the horseback for each core function and explored how each role's strengths connects to agency success, both for their individual scope as well as how they support each other:

No matter if you're a Solopreneur, Challenger Firm, or Big-Small Agency, these core functions gotta ride together or else your agency is going to die together.

Might as well lean into your strengths as you pillage and raze the countryside.

A TL;DR from the CRO

I do channel "Horseman of Famine" energy during team syncs but it's only because I recently got into intermittent fasting and it makes me grumpy in the morning.

While preparing this TL;DR, I indulged my curiosity on the mythos behind "The Four Horsemen." It's not the first time I've channeled this imagery, but part of why I love writing this newsletter is that I get to give myself permission to tumble down a rabbit hole and learn something new.

In this week's episode of "Dan Falling Down a Rabbit Hole," I asked AI to generate a Deep Research report with the prompt, "teach me about the mythology, symbolism, historical relevance, and artistic impact of "The Four Horsemen" and after it did the research, I also asked it to create an audio summary.

One of the more interesting takeaways for me from this research was that the original text (Book of Revelation, chapters 4-8) characterized the four horses as part of God's divine plan (or in my interpretation: "Y'all be sinnin' so God's gonna give you a whuppin'").

Over time, the Horsemen have become disassociated from God and have become more independent, either as extensions of a malevolent force, symbolism of societal dysfunctions, or even antiheroes (like in one of my favorite game series, Darksiders).

It just goes to show how strong characters and compelling narratives can inspire all sorts of creativity.

Jujj up your creativity: here's the Deep Research report and here's the audio summary of that report.

Gratias tibi ago quod mihi es inspiratio alternis hebdomadibus,

A bi-weekly roundup of good fortune May 31 - June 13 The Formula to Luck Involves Saying Yes Through sheer luck, I got connected to Jeff Gibbard, a multidisciplinary kindred soul that also works with entrepreneurs, agencies, and humans who want to grow and learn. I was so dazzled by his personality that I immediately thought, "This guy is TL;DR material." I invited Jeff to provide the feature for this TL;DR since he appreciated the irony of exploring luck on a historically unlucky day and...

A bi-weekly roundup of neurochemical learning cocktails May 17 - May 30 This Brain Juice Is Worth The Squeeze, Twice What do you know about the neurochemical, acetycholine? If you forgot your Behavioral Neuroscience notebook at home, here's the refresher: acetycholine (ACh) is a chemical released in the brain to help neurons wire together. Research indicates that it helps with alertness, focus, binding certain synapses together, and suppressing other synapses from binding. It's Brain Gorilla...
